Who We Are
Our Purpose
Soy Latina is a young women’s leadership association dedicated to helping Latina high school students recognize their worth, discover their voice, and see themselves as leaders.
Through our Hermanas & Hermanitas mentorship model, high school juniors and seniors are paired with Latina professionals who serve as mentors, role models, and trusted connections. Our Hermanitas gain more than advice; they gain access to relationships, experiences, and opportunities that help prepare them for life beyond high school.
We focus on the whole young woman.
Our programming combines leadership development, mentorship, career exploration, financial literacy, cultural pride, education, and real-world experiences designed to help each Hermanita build confidence and a strong sense of direction.
But Soy Latina is about more than preparing young women for college or careers.
It is about reminding them that their culture is not something they have to leave behind to succeed. It is part of what makes them powerful.
We are proudly rooted in the communities of San Antonio, particularly the Southside, Westside, and Eastside - communities rich in culture, family, resilience, and history. We know that talent exists everywhere. Opportunity, access, and representation do not always follow.
Founding
Founded in San Antonio, Texas, Soy Latina was created from a simple but powerful belief: when young women are surrounded by women who believe in them, their possibilities become bigger.
That’s where we come in
Soy Latina creates a space where young women can ask questions, build relationships, try new things, take up space, and imagine a future that may look different from what they have always known.
Because we don’t just want our Hermanitas to graduate.
We want them to lead.
We want them to walk into rooms knowing they belong there.
We want them to understand the value of their voice.
We want them to build networks that open doors and become the women who hold those doors open for others.
